<!-- EDIT TEMPLATE DOCUMENTATION BELOW THIS LINE -->

__NOTOC__
|production=2005&ndash;
This is the '''bullet''' template; it looks like this: "&nbsp;&bull; ".
|predecessor=[[GM 60-Degree V6 engine]]
|class=60° [[pushrod engine|OHV]] [[V6 engine|V6]]
|similar=[[Ford Vulcan engine]]<br>[[Chrysler 3.3 engine]]
}}
The '''High Value''' engine family from [[General Motors Corporation|General Motors]] is a group of [[Cam in Block]] or "[[Pushrod]]" [[V6]] engines. They use the same 60° vee bank as the [[GM 60-Degree V6 engine|60° V6 family]] they are based on, but the new 99&nbsp;mm bore required offsetting the bores by 1.5&nbsp;mm away from the engine centerline.  These engines (aside from the LX9) are the first cam in block engines to implement Variable Valve Timing, and won the 2006 Breakthrough Award from [[Popular Mechanics]] for this innovation.  For the model year 2007 the 3900 engine features optional [[displacement on demand]], or what is now called "Active Fuel Management" which can deactivate one bank of cylinders under light load to increase economy. It was rumored GM would produce a 3-valve design, but never came to be. These engines are produced primarily at the GM UAW factory in [[Tonawanda, New York]].

==3.5==
It works similarly to the html markup sequence "<code>'''&amp;nbsp;&amp;bull;'''&nbsp;</code>". That is, a [[non-breaking space]], a bullet and a normal space.
===LX9===
The '''LX9 3500''' is an OHV engine based on the [[GM 60-Degree V6 engine|3400]] V6. It incorporates [[electronic throttle control]]. Bore is 94 mm, stroke is 84 mm for a displacement of 3498 cc (213&nbsp;cu&nbsp;in).  A GM Press Release for the 2004 Malibu described the 3500 thus: "3.5-liter V-6, will debut in the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. The engine offers improved performance and fuel efficiency, and runs smoother and quieter than earlier generation V-6 engines.  The 3500 V-6 features an advanced powertrain control module, improved fuel injection system, a redesigned exhaust manifold and a new catalytic converter contribute to reduced emissions, as well as improved efficiency and performance characteristics. Improvements in cooling, sealing and the accessory drive system add to the engine's overall quality, reliability and durability." Power output ranges from {{Convert|196|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} to {{Convert|201|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}}, torque ranges from {{Auto ft.lbf|213|0}} to {{Auto ft.lbf|221|0}}. This engine was retired after the 2006 model year, being replaced by the 3.5&nbsp;L ''[[GM High Value engine#LZ4|LZ4]]'' V6 for 2007.

It was used in the following vehicles and model years:
{{tl|bull}} and {{tl|bullet}} redirect here and can be used as alternative names for this template.
* 2005-2006 [[Buick Terraza]]/[[Chevrolet Uplander]]/[[Pontiac Montana]]/[[Saturn Relay]]
* 2004-2006 [[Chevrolet Malibu]]/[[Chevrolet Malibu Maxx]]
* 2005-2006 [[Pontiac G6|Pontiac G6 Sedan / Coupe]]
* 2006 [[Pontiac G6|Pontiac G6 GT Convertible]]

===LZE===
This template is used when you want a bigger bullet than a [[Template:·|bold middot]] "'''&middot;'''", but something smaller than a [[Template:Ndash|ndash]] "&ndash;" or [[Template:Mdash|mdash]] "&mdash;". For instance for dotted lists that have a font-size 80% or less of normal font-size, since then bold middot "'''&middot;'''" becomes too small.
The '''LZE 3500''' is an OHV [[flexible fuel]] engine based on the 3.9 L ''[[GM High Value engine#LZ9|LZ9]]'' V6 (it can use either plain gasoline or 85% Ethanol, [[E85]]) and includes continuously [[variable cam timing]] (fixed overlap). It has a cast iron block and aluminum heads. Bore is 99 mm, stroke is 76 mm for a displacement of 3510 cc (214&nbsp;cu&nbsp;in). Output is 211&nbsp;hp (156.5&nbsp;kW) at 5800&nbsp;rpm and 214&nbsp;ft·lbf (298&nbsp;N·m) at 4000&nbsp;rpm.

Output for model year 2007 is upped to horsepower of 224 @ 5800 rpm and torque of 220 @ 4000 rpm.
=== Normal usage ===

Applications:
The recommended usage is to use ''no'' space before the template and one space after the template, like this:
* 2006-present [[Chevrolet Impala]]/[[Chevrolet Monte Carlo|Monte Carlo]]
<nowiki>[[Salt]]{{&bull;}} [[Pepper]]</nowiki>

===LZ4===
It will render one space on each side of the bullet, like this:
The '''LZ4 3500''' is an OHV engine based on the 3.9 L ''[[GM High Value engine#LZ9|LZ9]]'' V6. It was introduced for the 2006 model year in the Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo.  It includes continuously variable cam timing (fixed overlap). It has a cast iron block and aluminum heads. Output is 211&nbsp;hp (156.5&nbsp;kW) at 5800&nbsp;rpm and 214&nbsp;ft·lbf (298&nbsp;N·m) at 4000&nbsp;rpm. Bore is 99 mm, stroke is 76 mm for a displacement of 3510 cc. Horsepower rating changed for the 2007 model year to Horsepower: 224 @ 5800 rpm and Torque: 220 @ 4000 rpm.  The Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6, and Saturn Aura are to be equipped with this engine for 2007 (previously the Malibu and G6 had the non-VVT {{Convert|201|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} 3.5&nbsp;L ''[[GM High Value engine#LX9|LX9]]'').
:[[Salt]] &bull; [[Pepper]]

Applications:
If it line breaks then the line break will come ''after'' the bullet, not before, like this:
* 2006-present [[Chevrolet Impala]]/[[Chevrolet Monte Carlo|Monte Carlo]]
:[[Salt]] &bull;
* 2007-2008 [[Chevrolet Malibu]]/[[Chevrolet Malibu Maxx]]
:[[Pepper]]
* 2007-2008 [[Saturn Aura]]
* 2007-present [[Pontiac G6]]

For long dotted lists each list item can be put on its own line, with no spaces between each item and the template. Like this:
<pre><nowiki>
[[Salt]]{{&bull;}}
[[Pepper]]{{&bull;}}
[[Curry]]{{&bull;}}
[[Saffron]]</nowiki></pre>

Note: GM often refers to this engine in its literature as a "3.5L V6 with Variable Valve Timing".
(It doesn't matter if there are no or some spaces at the end of the lines, after the templates.)

==3.9==
As before it will render one space on each side of the bullets, like this:
Bore is increased to 99&nbsp;mm (3.9&nbsp;in) and stroke is increased to 84&nbsp;mm (3.31&nbsp;in) for a displacement of 3880&nbsp;cc (237&nbsp;cu&nbsp;in).
:[[Salt]] &bull; [[Pepper]] &bull; [[Curry]] &bull; [[Saffron]]

===LZ9===
And if it line breaks then the line break will come ''after'' one of the bullets, not before, like this:
The new '''LZ9 3900''' features [[Variable Cam Timing]], a new feature on a pushrod engine, roller rocker arms and has a [[variable resonance intake manifold]]. It produces 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 ft·lbf (332 Nm) torque, with a wide [[torque curve]]. 90% of the torque is available from 1500rpm to 5500rpm.
:[[Salt]] &bull; [[Pepper]] &bull;
:[[Curry]] &bull; [[Saffron]]

Applications:
=== Incorrect usage ===
* 2006 [[Pontiac G6|Pontiac G6 GTP Sedan / Coupe / Convertible]]
* 2007 [[Pontiac G6|Pontiac G6 GT Sport Package Sedan / Coupe]]
* 2006-Present [[Pontiac G6|Pontiac G6 GT Convertible]]
* 2006-2007 [[Chevrolet Malibu|Chevrolet Malibu SS]]
* 2006 [[Chevrolet Impala]]/[[Chevrolet Monte Carlo|Monte Carlo]]
* 2006-2009 [[Buick Terraza]]/[[Chevrolet Uplander]]/[[Pontiac Montana]]/[[Saturn Relay]]
* 2009 [[Buick Lucerne]]

===LZ8===
If the template is used slightly wrong it will in some cases still behave well. For instance if there are no or several spaces after the template. Like these examples:
The '''LZ8 3900''' has the same [[VCT|Variable Cam Timing]] technology as the LZ9.  The 2007 model year introduces the [[Active Fuel Management]] system (formerly known as [[Displacement on Demand]]), which can turn off a bank of cylinders under a light load for increased fuel economy. Output is slightly lower than the LZ9 at 233 hp (174&nbsp;kW) and 240 ft·lbf (332&nbsp;N·m).

This engine is used in the following vehicles:
<nowiki>[[Salt]]{{&bull;}}[[Pepper]]</nowiki>
<nowiki>[[Salt]]{{&bull;}}  [[Pepper]]</nowiki>

* 2007-present [[Chevrolet Impala]]
Both of them will render exactly as before, with just one space on each side of the bullet, like this:
:[[Salt]] &bull; [[Pepper]]

===LGD===
And it will still only line break ''after'' the bullet, like this:
:[[Salt]] &bull;
:[[Pepper]]

The '''LGD 3900''' is a [[flexible fuel]] version of the LZ9, and like its 3.5&nbsp;L counterpart the [[GM High Value engine#LZE|LZE]], it can run on [[E85]], pure gasoline or any mixture of the two. It is currently only available on GM's "Crossover Sport Vans". Output is identical to the LZ9.
But putting one or more spaces before the template will cause problems, like these examples:
<nowiki>[[Salt]] {{&bull;}}[[Pepper]]</nowiki>
<nowiki>[[Salt]]  {{&bull;}}[[Pepper]]</nowiki>
<nowiki>[[Salt]] {{&bull;}} [[Pepper]]</nowiki>
<nowiki>[[Salt]]   {{&bull;}}  [[Pepper]]</nowiki>

* 2007-present [[Buick Terraza]]/[[Chevrolet Uplander]]/[[Pontiac Montana]]
Then it will render with ''two'' spaces before the bullet, and one after, like this:
:[[Salt]] &nbsp;&bull; [[Pepper]]

===LZG===
And if it line breaks it might break ''before'' the bullet, like this:
:[[Salt]]
:&nbsp;&bull; [[Pepper]]

The '''LZG''' 3900 is a [[flexible fuel]] version of the LZ9 that replaces the LZ8 in the Chevrolet Impala. It keeps the [[Active Fuel Management]] system introduced on that engine and produces a nearly-identical 233 hp (174&nbsp;kW) and 240 ft·lbf (325&nbsp;N·m).
=== Technical details ===

==See also==
The space before the bullet is a [[non-breaking space]]. That means it will not line break and will not collapse together with normal spaces that come before the template.

The space after the bullet is a normal space. That means it wraps (allows line breaks) and it will collapse together with normal spaces that come after the template to form one single space.

Under some circumstances dotted link lists misbehave. They might get unexpected line wraps or they might expand outside the box they are enclosed in. The how-to guide [[Wikipedia:Line break handling]] explains when that happens and how to fix it.

There are several other templates with similar functionality:

* {{tn|·}} – Bold middot "'''&middot;'''" is mostly used for dotted lists.
* {{tl|ndash}} – Ndash "&ndash;" is a short dash.
* {{tl|mdash}} – Mdash "&mdash;" is a long dash.
* {{tn|\}} – For the occasional slash "/" in lists.
* {{tl|-•}} - Creates a line break, bullet and non-breaking space. Equivalent to the HTML markup: <code><nowiki><br/>&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;</nowiki></code>.

* {{tl|••}} – The same kind of bullet but it "sticks" before a list item, instead of after a list item.

When making dotted lists you might need to handle proper word wrapping (line breaking):

* {{tl|nowraplinks}} – Prevents wraps inside links and only allows wraps between the links and in normal text, very useful for link lists and easy to use.
* {{tl|nowrap begin}} – Prevents wraps in both text and links. For the really tricky wrapping cases when you need full control, for instance in very complex link lists.
* [[Wikipedia:Line break handling]] – The how-to guide detailing how to handle line wrapping on Wikipedia.
